On the birthday of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman is back in the news. A short time ago the owner of Celebrity Boxing, Damon Feldman asked who would fight George Zimmerman. 15,000 replies later DMX was unofficially chosen. It was reported by BET that “George Zimmerman wanted Kanye West”. It is too bad that Kanye is a chicken. Maybe he will fight Taylor Swift.
DMX has already started the trash talking. He says, “I am going to beat the living f**k out him”. DMX has been to prison and is in his 40’s. Zimmerman outweighs DMX and has been training intensely. Although, as of the trial he was still learning how to punch. You almost wish it was Celebrity MMA.
Regardless, it should be an interesting fight. The underlying racial aspect of the fight will be sure to drive interest. People still think Zimmerman is white.
DMX spokesperson said that no contracts have been signed. The current tentative date is March 1st. There will be an update on February 12th, and it should be official.
FEB 8th Update:
The fight has been cancelled after threats against Feldman according to Reuters.
